baSin City *Added Edits*
Well then, i guess were gonna have a complete movie review thread of just one movie.
I recently was able to see Sin City on dvd format (Thanks Anna!) Anywho the movie in its entirety, after watching it you feel like youve seen something epic. Im not much for a Quinten Terrintino fan, and intially when the movie was out in theaters, i was like "special guest director... that doesnt even make sense!" And i still stand by that it doesnt. But this isnt a story about Terrintino, its about Sin City, so lets get into the actual movie shall we?
I'll try not to do any spoilers of any sort for the those who are weary and want to see the movie. After watching the movie i give it a full recomendation to go out and get yourself a copy. Right as the movie starts up, you get into the groove of a 1930's gangster flick, however its done so well that it becomes its own genre. The movie itself, the plot is great, Frank Miller is a good writer, however though he was one of the directors, the speech through some of the actors fell a little short.
Most of the time, the dialoge is straight, quick and too the point, so the Actors, trying to do a good job, try and pull off a Shakesperan twist on all of their lines. Not so much in the dialect, but in the deliverance, as that every word they utter are as important as the rising and setting sun. But anywho, most people will see the movie and their first pick up will be "Black and White, this means im an Art Fan!" Not true. If you wanta good black and white film, go rent Nosforatu. Anywho, yes they did a good job on the transsions from Graphic Novel to the silver screen, however part way through the movie, my eyes started to hurt. The movie is not presented in a complete Black and white tone, but as in a luminscent glow of each character, the darks are dark dark, and the lights glow. I do like however that their attention to detail, as Bruce Willis stands in a somewhat shadow, his clothes become flat through their lack of light, yet his tie waves briliant light. It presents a great feel to the movie.
Back on to the acting, the Female Characters are written kind of poorly. Its not the fact that they were acted incorrectly or badly, but the fact that they did not have much space to expirment, they were all very "bright eyed and bushy tailed." All the Male characters were brought to great lengths, to make dirty, killing, men into god like heroes of the Greek and Roman Age.
The final portion of this will be a summation comprised with the score of the film. The musical score of the film is more brilliant then the way the film is graphically portrayed. The bumps and rhythmes of the music make every person watching slide right into the feel and "groove" of the movie, and that of every city, the groove of "Sin City." I found the movie to be quite enjoyable, alot of twists and turns of characters not to be expected. For those who have seen Lord of the Rings, remember now, Frodo the hobbit = Golum. I fully recommend everyone to go out and at least watch the film once, and remember that yes some of the parts are quite gruesome however they are presented in a fashion that fits each character.
Go see this movie!
The bastard made me watch as he sucked the flesh off of my fingers!!! He made me Watch!
*Edit* Alright then, this movie, my god, the more you watch it the more you love it. Its a movie the second time around you fall in love with it. Its style and music and characters are so over the top however everything is kept to a heightend mood. There isnt a spot in this movie where you dont feel satisfied by the outcome. I was describing it to a freind this morning and theres really only one way to describe this Film. Quoted From Me "This movie is like a neo-surrealstic nightmare that you dont want to wake up from."
