The Geek Within
Okay with that title, my update will be quite geeky. Even by my standards... well actually its just on my level of Geekness.
Okay with recent television stations being taken over by Comcast... TechTv that is. The tech/geek currently has no outlet on the tv. Well then, I Consider myself to be a gamer/geek, history/geek, but from both of those sprouts a die-heard tech/geek. So what do i suggest you all do too keep your tech/geek on? Well i would say get into the world of PodCasts. PodCasts are bassically, small radio programs that are made by everyone. But of course the ones i listen to are people who used to be on TechTv. I suggest everyone goes out right now, and subscribe to the TWIT broadcast. TWIT which is an Acronymn for This Week In Tech, bassically takes the week in review and they talk about all things tech and what not. I consider it to be really fun heh. The geek within. On top of that, one i find really nice is one called DiggNation. Digg Nation is a sprout off of Digg.com. To understand DiggNation, one must understand Digg.com. It bascially is a online open post board. Members post things that they have "dug" up on the web those that get the most "digs" get filtered out to the top page. So if you check it out. Theres a whole bunch of sections for all types of geeks. Currently it is down for an upgrade so i cant list everything for you. Anywho bassically for the Gamer, Movie, Music, Tech, ect. Geeks in all of us can now find the things that intrest you as you descend upon the InterWeb every day. So what DiggNation does, bassically two guys, drink beers, and discuss the most "dug" headlines of stuff that filters up to the top. So yeah its nice. They talked about the Zombie Dogs, which are real. There are Zombie dogs in the world. There are also flying squirl men. Anywho, those who have heard their broadcasts, would be laughing there asses off now, if your not laughing i suggest you head over to Diggnation.typepad.com and subscribe. For the TWIT lovers, ThisWeekInTech.com is for you. Both are really good. So with this, ive really gotten into the whole pod-cast events. Im thinking for next year, we could seriously do, during regionals/nationals, do our own pod-casts after the events, if were not dead tired heh. We could also do it during our build season. Would be a nice thing to do, could upload it to our website. It would be nice. Anywho, with that i digress. I suggest all Geeks out there to check this out.
Currently, there is a court case of AMD sueing Intel for being in violation of many federal acts including the Anti-Sherman act. What this really means is that AMD is accusing Intel for giving the top tier computer produceres like Compaq and Dell saying that they will not sell to them at the current low sale if they make Amd lines of computers that are for the main desktop user crowd. Ussually Microsoft is hit up on these type of suits, no one has yet to do it against Intel. I suppose AMD is doing it for self-notority. Since they could try to sell at a lower price on these bulk sales, however i guess they found it to be more beneficial and cost effective to do it this way. On top of this, all computer geeks/programers/builders know that AMD is better then Intel. For a builder, AMD is the way to go, their faster, better, and cheaper then Intel.
Some gaming info. With the recent Counter-Strike Source updates, some news on the Day of Defeat Source front has emerged. Apparently, in the coming weeks there is gonna be some tastey screenies for us, aswell they are apparently shooting for a late Augest to early September for a release. Do i think they will do it? Doubtfull... Serious doubts. When they launched Source last year, they promised a Day of Defeat source installment for March. I had my huge doubts... Obviously, it was moved up to spring release, they just decided to re-do the whole thing and have more of a "re-invention" then a port. I guess i can coupe with that. Yesteday marked the One Year start of Forsaken. Click the little action Forsaken guys for the link. Anywho, they have released some really shibby in-game screen shots. Ive been following this Mod for a long long long time and im very glad that they havent given up, and have completed so much. Apparently the "when its done" mark of finish could be sooner then expected.
Ill start a new paragraph even though its a related topic. With the recent releases of San Andreas on the PC and XBox, people are upset. Apparently with the PC version, if you download a 3rd party mod for the game, one can unlock elicit XXX scenes. So now the ESRB is looking into the game to give it a AO rating from an M. This is of course obsurd. Many people in this country think its okay to give up constitional rights because it gives them safety. People are willing to give away their freedoms for the illusion of safety. Back in the early 90's with Mortal Kombat, Democratic Senator Lieberman tried to have a federal rating system. Of course the idea of anything like that is complete non-sense in view of a capitalist society. Yet however, people beleive that is a good idea. Controlling of the people, Communisim is on the way. Last year, i spoke to a girl from Poland who was working at an amusemnt park as she went to college. I conversed to her of how she has viewed the Capitalist change in her life. She said, from the Government before the berlin wall fell, capitalists were bad however all non-officals said how free this country is. Then when she comes here, she relaizes that there are many restrictions to American life. Currently, the former soviet block countries have more freedoms and are more democratic then the United States of America. Soon the Communist states.
